Launching Flip Self-Service SaaS & Free Trial Version Today

After building for several years and deploying at some of the best companies in the world, we are removing all barriers for SREs to try our product. Today, we launched a new website and self-service SaaS product that SREs can use to onboard themselves and try Flip for free in less than five minutes.
First, this problem space—correlating several modalities of observability data and finding accurate root causes is very real and something that most companies still struggle with today. We’ve struggled with it several times in our own careers and, yes, that includes carrying pagers. It’s an exciting space. It’s a challenging space. And it’s definitely worth pursuing!
Second, while there is a certain cool factor in multiple data modalities (logs, metrics, traces), logs are the unifying element across observability. In an ideal scenario, companies would have perfect instrumentation with log, metric, and trace data to correlate, but this usually isn't the case. Traces can be powerful, but they are often incomplete, miss spans, etc. Metrics can also be powerful, but they are often indicators and don’t point to causes. Logs, however, are usually ubiquitous. Logs are usually reliable. Whenever something breaks, logs are the atomic unit of discovery. Or as our CTO says, "The logs don't lie."
Third, there has been an explosion of AI SRE vendors and teams sprinting to tackle this problem. This is great because it's a problem worth solving. Unfortunately, there is a great deal of friction to try these tools out. The "free" tools targeted at individual developers don't handle complexity well – many are fancy demos.
As we step into the next phase of our journey, our team is committed to making the most of these lessons and ushering in a new phase of AI SRE. We've realized that it's not about being just another "AI SRE". It's really about delivering what we call "contextual intelligence" to teams that are struggling to tackle complexity.
Our competitors don’t work effectively without perfect traces, and that’s just not the reality that most SRE teams face every day. Since coming out of stealth a few years ago, we've learned a few important lessons. Of course, we will continue to consume traces, metrics, etc., but, for us, the logs don't lie and will take their rightful place at the forefront of our analysis.
